Cut & Finish
Consultation, cleanse, precision cut and a proper finish. The bread and butter, taken seriously.
Thistle & Comb is a small Stockbridge salon with two chairs and no nonsense. Precision cuts, lived-in colour and balayage, done properly and priced in plain sight.
Free consultation on every colour • No rushed appointments
Four things, done properly. If it is not on this list, it is because we would rather do a short list well than a long list badly.
Consultation, cleanse, precision cut and a proper finish. The bread and butter, taken seriously.
Root to tip, sealed with a gloss. Even, rich, and it fades gracefully instead of going flat.
Hand-painted and low-maintenance. Grows out soft, not stripey, so you are not chained to the chair.
Pinned, photographed and tweaked well before the day. Calm hands for the morning of.
Every price agreed before the gown goes on. Colour prices include the consultation, the gloss and the honest opinion.
Skin test required 48 hours before any colour service. Long or very thick hair may cost a little more, we will always say so first.
Most salon visits go wrong in the first five minutes: nobody asks what you actually want, and nobody tells you what it costs. We do both before the gown goes on.
We are a two-chair salon on St Stephen Street. That is deliberate. It means your appointment is yours, unhurried, and the person who consults you is the person holding the scissors.
And if the colour you asked for would not suit you, we will say so. Nicely, but we will say so.
“Good hair, honestly done.”— Fiona, Founder
A rolling look at the craft: colour, balayage, restyles and the room they happen in.
Small on purpose. You will always know exactly whose hands your hair is in.
Colour is her first language. Balayage, lived-in blondes and corrections, done without judgement and priced before she starts.
Cutting is her craft. Short crops, bobs and restyles, with the honest opinion included free of charge.
Example reviews shown for the template. At personalisation these are replaced with the client's own verified Google reviews.
“Fiona talked me out of the colour I asked for and into the one I actually wanted. First salon that has ever done that.”
“Two hours, one balayage, zero small talk I did not want. Bliss. And the price was exactly what she quoted.”
“My restyle actually looks like the photo I showed her. Unheard of. I will not be going anywhere else now.”
